I'm still having the hardest time wrapping my head around the fact that we can go places in the winter...and it's warm. I'm learning to enjoy it, and not despair too much about missing a true winter, because soon enough it will be blazing hot, and we won't be able to to do it anymore.
So...last weekend was beautiful, and we were off to the zoo! We love the Houston Zoo. It's big, but not too big, and since we have a membership, we can go for a couple of hours and not stress that we haven't seen everything there is to see. There is a also a carousel that the kids die over, and it's a must every single time we go.
The downside to such a beautiful day is that there were about 50 million other people that had the same great idea, so parking was a little nuts, but once we got inside, it wasn't bad at all. Our priorities for the day? The big cats...leopards, jaguars, cheetahs, tigers, and lions...they have them all! We lucked out, and the jaguar was right up to the glass, just pacing back and forth. We were literally five feet away, and the kids were enthralled. It took awhile before we were able to move on.
We focused on one section of the zoo, and took our time, knowing we would be back pretty soon. After weeks of being sick and cooped up inside, we were just all glad to be OUT!!
We ended the day at one of our favorite Mexican restaurants, which was on the way home. We were sad Ryan wasn't with us, but he was doing "teenager" stuff. Lol.
You know, I still can't call Texas "home", but it's not all bad. ☺
