My beautiful, talented, funny, smart, delightful girls are NINE!!!! I can't believe it's been so long since we discovered that our miracle babies would be joining our family--I can't imagine them coming any other way. We are so lucky to have them in our family!
We celebrated by going out for Mexican food on the night before their birthday (it was on a Sunday), cake & ice cream, presents of course, and two favorite dinners on two different nights--so they each could have a turn. Kate chose Tortellini Soup, and Emma wanted Taco Salad. They're excited to have a friend birthday party in a couple of weeks--they wanted to wait until the weather warmed up and we could have it outside.
They are just really GOOD girls. Both of them have their strengths, and talents that they excel in:
Kate loves all sports, and is trying them all. She has her favorites, but I think she just loves to be running around and playing! She's a daredevil--climbs anything and everything, loves roller coasters, and anything else that's exciting. She's doing really well on the piano, and loves her teacher. She's so great with her younger siblings, and all kids--she's a natural. I can always count on her help with Caroline, or with the boys. She loves school, and is quite the social butterfly. I dropped her off at one particular party, and we were a little late because of a previous engagement beforehand. We walked up the to the door, and I could hear cheers inside--the girls all yelled "now the party can start, Kate's here!" I just laughed, because that's so her--she's definitely the life of any party, and brings light wherever she goes!
We still call Emma "the librarian". She is a voracious reader, and I can't really keep her in books. She just finished another series, and I'm starting her on another one. She loves school, and all the academics. She loves music, and loves playing the violin and piano. Her violin Suzuki studio is quite intensive--lots of practice, listening to her songs, group classes twice a month--and she rises to the challenge. Ballet is another one of her loves, and she is quite graceful. I love to see the growth that has occurred in her the last year, and how hard she has worked. She is very curious, wants to know how everything works and why, and is always trying to learn. She keeps me on my toes, for sure!
Happy Birthday, my darling girls!!
