Have you ever wanted a whole day (or two) just yourself? Maybe go shopping all alone, without little hands and voices hurrying you along? Perhaps watching your favorite movie or TV show completely uninterrupted, and without filling requests for either more milk or snacks? Reading all day long would certainly be a dream of mine--to soak myself up in a really good mystery, or intense novel. What about lunch to yourself, all while taking slow, thoughtful bites, and thoroughly enjoying the taste of your food (not mac and cheese, either) instead of eating as fast as you can to match the pace of your toddlers?
I'll be the first to admit that those days are ones that I've dreamed for, perhaps even longed for. Just a little rejuvenation goes a long way.
Well. It's funny how your perspective can change when it's no longer your choice. Suddenly, the thought of staying in bed all day long isn't as appealing as it once was. I have been on bed rest (only up to use the bathroom, shower, and go to my appt. for 2 weeks) for only 6 hours, and I'm already ready to move on. I am making lists of books I want to read, movies I want to watch and re-watch (I'd love suggestions for both books and movies!), items to shop for online, and I am also counting on each one of you to blog A LOT so I have plenty to read everyday.
The really good news? The babies are okay, and as long as I take it easy for the next couple of weeks, I can get back to normal activity. I'm grateful that there is something I can do.
And I'm positive that as soon as I'm back to real life once again, I'll be just as ready for a "day off" as I ever was.

I figured you were likely to have updated your blog today! How interesting that what we often long for isn't as great as we anticpated. Or in your case, the circumstances are just different. Hope you are feeling well and that the babies continue to be healthy!
Good book... The Shack by WM Paul Young... Glad everything is okay :)
I don't have any suggestions quite yet but I will think about it and let you know. I am sorry to hear you are back on bedrest but glad to hear that the babies are ok. I fully expect for you to have something for me to do to help you these next coming weeks :) Hang in there...and enjoy your quiet while you have it!
The Girl of the Limerlost is an excellent book. A friend gave it to me a number of years ago while I was in the hospital with a child and it is still a favorite. I have a bunch of old fun movies at my house in Midland. If you have a VCR, give Martha a call and I am sure that she would deliver. :)
I highly recommend The Wednesday Letters by Jason F. Wright and any books by David McCollough (if you're into history).
Hope all continues to go well!
Hugs, sweetpea. I'm glad everything is o.k. Take care of yourself.
Your title says it all--it is all about perspective.
I know, and it's hard to watch someone do everything for you, but I'm so glad the bebe's are okay... I hate to tell you this, if you already don't read it, but check out Seriously So Blessed.Blogspot. If you haven't read it, remember it's satire on us mormon mommies. It will keep you busy and entertained I promise, but you have to read the comments - they make it funnier. It really zaps too much time for me to get to all the time, so be careful. But as long as you're on the couch for 2 weeks...
Oh how hard. Bed rest is a lot harder than it seems. It gets so long to just be in bed all day. I will pray that the next couple of weeks go by fast for you and that everything continues to go well for you pregnancy. I will be thinking about you and thinking about good books. Hang in there!
Sweet Friend, I am sorry to hear you have to take it easy, it is much harder when it is a "have too"! I am so grateful that your little ones are okay. I will be thinking of good books and movies to share. Hey, I could always bring over "How to lose a guy in 10 days" and we could watch that again. (that was a long time ago wasn't it) Good Memories!!
So sorry to hear you are on the take it easy phase of pregnancy..I hate that but I am so happy to hear the babies are fine! My friend has a list of 100 books you should read in your life at: bleylbanter.blogspot.com
Call if you need help with anything!!!
We recently watched Eagle Eye and I know how much you like the Bourne movies I think you would really like it!
Okay, so I totally know how you are feeling. I had 5 weeks of it. Blogs are the best when you have hours to yourself. Problem is you become addicted and then your off bed rest and the addiction is still there.
I am glad to hear the babies are okay. That is most important. See what a good Mommy you are. Lay down and rest for those angels.
Hunger Games is excellent (if you haven't already read it!) and any movie with Audrey Hepburn makes me happy. (Roman Holiday is my fav!)
I wish you many yummy breakfasts in bed and two healthy babies!
i hope it goes quickly for you! all of the books i've read lately are academic, not-so-fun books, unfortunately, although i've had my eye on The Guernsey Literary Society book (can't remember the whole name). good luck!
Sorry you are stuck in bed. I hope you have some good helpers. My thoughts and prayers are with you. You should join goodreads.com then you can see all your friends choices for goodbook, and it will also give you something to do as you list all the books you have read which I know is a ton. Enjoy the time even though it is frustrating. Before you know it your little ones will be here and you will be dreaming of sleep. I know what you are going through though I was on bedrest with Harris.
Wow- it's funny as I was reading your initial comments I thought to myself that I could totally relate and I was glad that I was in a place that I CAN do those things while my kids are all in school- but your circumstances are MUCH different! Hang in there! I wish I had a book idea for you- I am not much of a reader- wish I was better! But craigs list is my new favorite shopping/selling place! :)
I second goodreads.com! It's been the best help for me to find "that next good book to read." I still try alot of duds before I find another good book. But, I enjoy finding out what my friends are reading.
I also second The Hunger Games, and The Guernsey Literary Society. They are both good books I've read in the last 6 months.
Best wishes Kierste! ;)
Oooh! Good luck with bed rest. It doesn't sound fun at all but whatever to keep those babies safe. Wish I had good suggestions for you. I will keep thinking!!
I'm so sorry to hear that you are on bed rest. I did that for 10 weeks with our first baby. I went nuts!!! I hope you have lots of help with your kiddos. I'm reading "John Adams" by David McCullough right now. It's really interesting if you are up for a historical biography.
Just noticed someone else recommended David McCullough.
Hang in there.
I know you're up and at 'em again but I thought I would just let you know about this really good book. (Well, this is coming from me)The book is called Hidden Places by Lynn Austin. Don't know if you've read it but you should if you haven't. K - just had to plug my choice of books.
We will each be tried with a problem specific to ourselves. Glad you're getting better and that the babies are fine.
