Some years go by, and other than everyone turning a year older, most everything is pretty standard. Not 2012--it will definitely reign as one of the most monumental our family has experienced. Several major and life-defining moments occurred this year, and although we're still in an adjustment period, we're healthy, happy, and together--and I wouldn't have it any other way.
1. Selling our first house
2. Moving from Michigan after 12 years to the great state of Texas!
3. Our family's first trip to Disneyworld!!!
4. Finding out that a baby girl will join our family in March of 2013 ♥
5. Kate & Emma starting 1st grade and being gone all day for the first time
6. Henry being potty trained! (Jack hasn't been convinced of its merits quite yet. We're hoping he will SOON.
7. Ryan starting his last year of junior high!
8. Lots of visits from Gramme & Poppy...we love it!
9. Only 3 visits to the ER. :)
10. A nearly double increase in our grocery bill. I'll let you guess who we have to thank for this. :)
Some of the things on the list we knew would happen, and had been planning for awhile. Others took us completely by surprise, and our life is very different than the one we had last New Year's Eve. When I was in the throes of infertility, a difficult time that lasted for many years, I came to rely on one particular scripture that has remained my favorite:
"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." -Proverbs 3:5-6
I have continued to rely on this scripture when our path was directed a way that we could have never expected. I know that we are where we are supposed to be for a reason, that this baby girl is meant to come into the world and be a part of our family, and that our Father in Heaven has a plan for us. It's that knowledge that combats the loneliness, horrible morning sickness, and moments of sadness when friends are desperately missed. We have been blessed here with a beautiful home, kind friends, wonderful ward, good job, and so many other things, and I am grateful.
2012 has strengthened me, and brought our family even closer together. Here's to 2013!

What a great year it has been!!!! So hard to believe Ryan will be starting high school in the fall. Wow.
That is one of my favorite scriptures, too. The first one I memorized when I joined the Church some 39 years ago. It has gotten me through so many challenges.
YOU CONTINUE TO AMAZE ME.
Wishing you a great 2013!!!!
Huge changes for your family! The scripture you stated was the one we chose for our family one this year. Happy 2013! Excited for that little girl to join your family :)
