Memorial Day, here and gone? I can't believe it. Why is that time always goes faster as soon as you don't want it to? Rick and I got home from our house hunting trip late Friday night, and it was wonderful to be home for all the festivities of the weekend. My parents had come into town to stay with the kids while we were gone, and it was fun to still have them with us as well.
Monday morning dawned bright, clear, and sunny--the perfect day for a parade. We packed up our chairs, filled water bottles, and grabbed grocery sacks for the kids to gather candy, and we were off to meet friends at our usual parade spot. As always, the kids loved it, and even though the parade candy has somehow downgraded to all Tootsie Rolls, they thought it was THE best ever.
After the parade, and a few hours of downtime, we headed over to a BBQ hosted by our good friends. How is that food always tastes better outside? We ate really yummy food, then finished it off with homemade ice cream. Our 19 crazy kids ran through the sprinklers, had water fights, made volcanoes out of mud, and had a fabulous time together. The adults had some pretty rousing games of badminton and horseshoes--two of our favorites--and enjoyed talking around the campfire. It really was one of those perfect moments that you wish you could bottle up and hold on to forever.
All too soon it was time to pack up and get kids home and into the bath. It didn't seem right that there was school the next day--we would all have rather sat outside all night and soaked up the cooling night air. We went home happy, and totally refreshed. It was so, so nice to have one complete day of relaxing, especially after keeping such a hectic schedule the last month.
The icing on the cake for the weekend? We accepted a fabulous offer on our house here, and found a great house in Texas! Hopefully we can start to focus on enjoying more of the fun stuff in the last few weeks before we go, rather than all logistics. *sigh*

I'm so glad to hear that you sold your house, and found a new one! And in such a sort time frame - I know you were worried about how that would pan out. What a blessing :)
Well, when you move to Texas school will be out by the middle of May and start beginning of August. Looks like you had a perfect day.
It was a perfect day. I felt just the same way about wanting to put that day in a bottle and keep it that way FOREVER. It was so nice to have you back home!
Congratulations on selling and finding a new home! What a relief.
We always manage to have so much fun together - so sad we had to miss this year :( looking forward to many more before you leave!
