{a trip to the fire station}

The Woodlands has a "Good Neighbor" campaign that goes during the summer, and as a part of that, they offered fire station tours on a couple of Saturdays.  We were gone for all of them but the last one, and my boys, especially Henry were SO excited to go.  He is obsessed with all things fireman, fire truck, and fire dog...

This particular station is the largest in The Woodlands, and we couldn't wait to go inside.  The fireman who took us on our tour was so good with the kids, and very patient with all of their questions. We got to see everything! I've been to the fire station plenty of times, but I've never been in to their living quarters before.  We got to see their nice, big kitchen with three pantries (one for each shift), their family room filled with leather recliners and a huge tv, the living quarters and bunks, the fire chief's office, the laundry room...everything! After the inside, we headed outside to see the engine and the truck.  We asked him so many questions, but it was really interesting and we all enjoyed it.  On our way out, we even got to see Relay, the fire dog...who has her own room, loves bacon, and loves kids. She was actually a rescue dog, who fortunately found her way to this station.

 We all loved this tour--it was a perfect Saturday morning activity!
