Wednesday morning was the birthday of one of my close friends. Her husband wanted to surprise her with tickets to one of her favorite Broadway plays which was playing a couple of hours away. He collaborated with my husband, and they surprised us both this weekend with tickets to Les Miserables!
I was THRILLED. It's one of my favorites, and although I've seen it before, it had been a long time. Rick also lined up a babysitter for the afternoon and evening, and had everything taken care of. This was actually milestone for our family--this would be the first time that a babysitter would put all of our kids to bed!
We ate dinner at a yummy deep dish pizza place, and then headed to the theater. It was an older, smaller building, but beautiful, and we had great seats on the main floor. The play was absolutely wonderful. The cast was excellent, and the time just flew by. I {LOVE} the music of Mes Miserables, and the man who played Jean Valjean was fantastic. He actually played the role in the original production on Broadway 20 years ago, and his performance was riveting.
Wonderful friends, an amazing show, and a night out with Rick--it was the perfect surprise.

It looks like it was a great night. The music in that show is so beautiful...I think I might just have to put it in today and enjoy it as well. Glad you had fun!

Ohmygoodness, I am so jealous right now. I have never seen it. Since 9th grade I have sung "On My Own." in my head and love just about every song. How exciting.
Good Job Rick! I get to go to Wicked in May, and I can hardly wait. I have been listening to the music every chance I get.
