{freedom}

My poor kids have been feeling so cooped up, and I don't blame them--so have I! I am craving some sun and warmer temperatures, and dream about being able to be outside without coats. And boots. And gloves. etc.

We had some beautiful weather a couple of weeks ago, and I was feeling very optimistic about winter finally being over. I should have found some wood to knock on, because last week a late winter storm came to visit, and left us 7-8 inches of snow to remember him by. It was especially hard to take after having temperatures in the 50's, and no snow on the ground. Spring break is this week, and although it's not as warm as we would like it to be, it's been nice enough to venture outside a little bit.

Today we headed to the Gardens, and to the Butterfly House. Rick was able to meet us there, which we were so excited about. The sun was actually out, and even though it was chilly, just seeing that little bit of sunshine made all the difference.

No one wanted to leave. The kids were just so ecstatic to have a little bit of freedom, and absolutely devoured their time outside. Crunching snow, exploring paths, picking up sticks, and investigating thawing streams and lakes were all a part of our morning. It was wonderful.

Spring is right around the corner. I can feel it.

I will cheer for spring to come your way too. I remember when Winston was born in 2002 it snowed in May. Not very much, but I seriously couldn't believe it since we had had such nice weather the weeks before.

Sounds like a wonderful day of breathing in some fresh air and enjoying the sun. I am glad Rick was able to join you. Sometimes an extra set of hands makes all the difference.
